Help!! What did I do wrong?
« on: March 16, 2010, 03:14:38 PM »
Had a bit of a rough idle so I figured some new plugs and a clean throttle body may help.

Changed the plugs, put in Delco Iridiums, part no. 41-103  gapped at .043

Used some spray throttle body cleaner.

Now it runs way worse, very lumpy idle and big time hesitation on acceleration.

Any ideas?

Did you make sure you hooked up the intake tract properly?

Any loose fitting allowing outside air in will screw it up. Did you remember to hook up both the valve cover breather line, and the fuel pressure regulator line? I know the rubber fitting that attaches the rest of the intake to the throttle body is hard to get on properly, and it can look like it's on properly but the bottom part might not be on all the way.

OK, I figured it out. I had the coil pack on the front most cylinder installed incorrectly, so I had effectively made it into a 4 cyl.

But now, next question. How do I rmove the large dash trim panel that surrounds thge radio, 4wd selector buttons, etc?

Start by pulling from the bottom and working your way up.  I had to do the same thing for my Sirus connection.  Now that the weather is getting nicer I need to do it again so I can reroute the antenna cable via the 3rd brake light, I have it running into the sliding rear window now and it looks like @#$@.

Don't forget to unhook the hazard button plug on the backside of it.

Does the small panel with the 4wd selector buttons come off with it?

I don't have 4x4 but the panel that holds the lights for the passenger-side airbag come off with the trim.  I'd assume the 4x4 panel would as well since they're almost the same.

Got it !  Thank you for all the help.   Had an incident with a Ambi-pure air freshener that I had to deal with.
